DESCRIPTION:
A new nine storey office building with ground floor retail and basement car parking in Glasgow City Centre. This was the first phase of the regeneration of Atlantic Quay/Atlantic Square, Broomielaw, Glasgow.
INVOLVEMENT:
Civil and structural design. The building’s structural form is steel frame with composite concrete floor structure incorporating vertical steel bracing. The cladding consists of curtain walling, rainscreen cladding and precast concrete cladding.
CHALLENGES:
As a gap site there were significant constraints with respect to the design and construction of the new basement and foundations. Vibration monitoring and building monitoring on adjacent buildings was undertaken during the works
