DESCRIPTION:
A new twelve storey office building with basement car parking in Glasgow City Centre. This was the third building developed at Atlantic Quay/Atlantic Square, Broomielaw, Glasgow. It is not only the tallest building in the Broomielaw but also the largest. The ground floor includes retail space.
INVOLVEMENT:
Civil and structural design. The building’s structural form is steel frame with composite concrete floor structure incorporating central concrete shear core. The cladding consists of curtain walling, rainscreen cladding and granite cladding.
CHALLENGES:
The design of a new basement and foundations in close proximity to old adjacent buildings called for strict vibration monitoring and complex temporary works.
BENEFITS TO CLIENT:
This building is the centrepiece of Atlantic Quay and has had full occupancy by tenants from completion.
