DESCRIPTION:
New flagship manufacturing facility with adjacent three storey office building of 30,000ft2. The facility is used to design, develop and manufacture power generators and temperature control equipment deployed around the world.
INVOLVEMENT:
The design included all superstructure design (steel frame on vibro foundations), earthworks, service yard, car parking and underground drainage including attenuation and SUDS pond.
CHALLENGES:
The building facilitates 3 No. 32 tonne overhead cranes. A complex combination of design load cases had to be considered. Also vibration issues were overcome by separation of the office structure from the manufacturing facility.
BENEFITS TO CLIENT:
Struer advised enabling works in advance of the main contract due to difficult ground conditions throughout the 16 acre site. Dewatering of the site prior to the main contract protected the client from potential claims by the follow on contractor.
