DESCRIPTION:
Single storey 40 bed dementia units constructed within the Erskine Hospital campus on the site of previous detached houses which were demolished. Development included secure gardens for the residents.
INVOLVEMENT:
Civil and structural design including underground drainage, car parking and access road. The building was constructed using timber frame and roof trusses supported on a ground bearing slab with local thickenings to support the wall loads.
CHALLENGES:
The drainage was designed to minimise the depth of the drainage in order to reduce excavation in rock.
BENEFITS TO CLIENT:
A good environment for the residents developed within a secluded area of the Erskine Hospital grounds.
